Viewers of 999: What’s Your Emergency?, the Channel 4 reality show which shows what South Yorkshire Police officers have to deal with on a daily basis, revealed how the man had suffered a black eye and had his Mini Cooper S stolen after being jumped in Shirecliffe Road in an incident understood to have taken place earlier last year.

The victim, named only as Robert, told the cameras how he had been set upon by three Asian youths, who threatened to pull a knife on him before stealing the cars to his car.

PCs Rhona Fisher and Steph Lill were seen responding to the incident, and urging the man, who had been punched in the face to go to hospital to have his injuries checked over.

Despite an extensive search of the area on the night of the incident, officers failed to trace the stolen car.

But it was revealed later in the show that firearms officers had located the car and its occupants had driven at officers before all three were detained.

A search of the vehicle found cannabis, knuckle dusters and a number of mobile phones and it was thought the car had been stolen to be used for criminal activity.

The series, which focuses on different aspects of policing each week, continues next Monday at 9pm with previous episodes available on catch up.
