Jamie Wilson, 35, of Mather Walk, Darnall, Sheffield, admitted turning-up at his mother’s home with cans of beer despite being subject to a DVPO to keep away, according to a Sheffield Magistrates’ Court hearing, sitting at Sheffield Crown Court.

Cheryl Topham, representing South Yorkshire Police, told the hearing that Wilson visited the property on Lucas Street, Sheffield, on April 5 and was shouting before he left.

Wilson is subject to a DVPO after civil proceedings in March and has previously breached prohibitions, according to the court.

Cheryl Topham confirmed there have been other reports of “domestic incidents” in relation to the DVPO but no criminal charges have been brought.

Hester Russell, representing Wilson, said he spent a night in the cells after he visited his mother because he thought he was helping.

District Judge Grace Leong fined Wilson £50.
