David Cooper, 52, of Redfern Grove, Sheffield, pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent photographs of a child, and possession of extreme and prohibited images, on July 23, after initially denying the offences.

Prosecutor Ian Mullarkey said police searched Cooper's home on August 24, 2017, when they seized two computers.

Analysis revealed the devices contained 11 videos and five images in Category A, the most extreme category, nine Category B videos and 217 Category C images.

The court heard the Category A videos featured sexual acts involving a baby and a five-year-old child, and the extreme images included pictures of bestiality.

Cooper searched on the internet for "14 year old teenage girls" and "incest."

Susan Fisher, mitigating, said Cooper, who had no previous convictions, took "overwhelming responsibility" for the offences.

"There's no doubt that it's taken him some time to come to terms with the offences. He acknowledges that he has been extremely stupid."

Judge Michael Slater told Cooper: "Behind everyone of these images is a story of humiliation and misery on behalf of the child depicted.

"This is behaviour that is absolutely happening to them at the time. The only reason these pictures are in circulation is because of people like you.

He sentenced Cooper to 12 months, suspended for two years, and imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years.

He also ordered him to attend 35 days of rehabilitation.
