A Sheffield man has been charged with wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm after an alleged assault on his own sister.

Abdual Aziz, aged 44, has been remanded in custody following his arrest after police officers were called to an incident on West Quadrant, Firth Park, at 9.20am on Tuesday, July 21.

Zainab Hakim was hospitalised with a fractured cheekbone and head injuries and spent five days in hospital after the reported disturbance.

In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called at around 9.20am on July 21 to reports of a disturbance in the Firth Park area of Sheffield.

“It is reported that a man assaulted a 49-year-old woman, who suffered injuries which required hospital treatment.”

Aziz is due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on August 24.
