Sheffield man charged with possessing wild owls

A young Sheffield man has been charged with possessing wild owls.

Joel Martin, aged 20, of Clayton Crescent, Waterthorpe, has been charged with taking and possessing two wild Tawny owls and possessing a trap capable of being used to take wild birds.

Officers from South Yorkshire Police and the National Wildlife Crime Unit arrested him after executing a warrant at an address in Waterthorpe on May 19.

Martin will appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 16.
