Sheffield man charged with serious driving offences following car chase

A 26-year-old Sheffield man has been charged with multiple serious driving offences following a car chase in May of this year.

James Maughan, 26, of no fixed abode, appeared in court this morning (Friday, July 10) charged with Dangerous Driving, Driving whilst disqualified and possession of a class B drug.

The crimes relate to a car chase on Mansfield Road in Sheffield on May 23 earlier this year, when it was reported a man has been threatened after two vehicles began chasing each other and one of them started driving on the pavement.

After both vehicles came to a stop, the drivers then became involved in an altercation in the middle of the road.

Maughan, who has been charged with the multiple driving offences, was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on August 3, 2020.
