Sheffield man charged with attempted murder as police investigate woman’s death

A man has been charged with attempted murder over an attack from which a woman later died.

David Bestwick, aged 60, of Chesterfield Road, Woodseats, was charged with attempted murder on Monday following an incident in Greenhill the day before.

Officers were called to an address in School Lane at around 4am following reports that a woman had been assaulted.

The woman was found with critical injuries and was taken to hospital to receive treatment.

She died yesterday, the day after Bestwick was charged over the attack.

A man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident in School Road, Greenhill

He is due at Sheffield Crown Court tomorrow.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Detectives investigating the death of a woman in Sheffield have charged a man in connection to the incident.

“Police were called to an address in School Lane, Greenhill, at around 4am following reports a woman had been assaulted.

“The woman was found with critical injuries and was taken to hospital to receive treatment. She sadly died yesterday.”
