Sheffield man caught with nearly three kilogrammes of cannabis

A drug-offender is due to be sentenced after he was caught with nearly three kilogrammes of cannabis.

Sheffield Crown Court heard on January 11, how Haroon Hanif, aged 37, of Ferrars Drive, Tinsley, Sheffield, has pleaded guilty to possessing 2.9551 kilogrammes of the class B drug in a property in Sheffield on February 19, 2020, with intent to supply.

Stephen Littlewood, prosecuting, said Hanif stated in an interview that he produced the cannabis and was growing it and he now says that was a lie and says he was essentially storing the cannabis.

Mr Littlewood requested an adjournment to liaise with police to see if Hanif’s basis of plea is acceptable given that around three kilogrammes of cannabis was found.

Recorder Felicty Davies adjourned the case until February 3 to allow the Crown Prosecution Service to establish whether Hanif’s basis of plea is acceptable.
