Sheffield man arrested after 'fight breaks out' at Chesterfield Magistrates' Court

Police have arrested a 34-year-old man from Sheffield on suspicion of assault at Chesterfield Justice Centre.

It is understood that some of those involved were in court to attend a civil case.

At least two police officers were called to the court in Tapton Lane in a marked squad car.

A Derbyshire police spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a disturbance at Chesterfield Justice Centre at 10am on March 11.

“When we arrived we arrested a 34-year-old man from Sheffield on suspicion of assault.

“The victim was taken to hospital after receiving minor injuries, including a cut to the mouth.”

Police will now investigate the incident before deciding whether to charge the man or not.
