Sheffield man and woman arrested on false imprisonment charges

A man and a woman have been charged with false imprisonment after police were called to a house on Walkley Road on Tuesday afternoon (June 2)

Both appeared before court today (Thursday 4 June) charged in connection with an ongoing multi-agency investigation in Sheffield.

Lorna Hewitt and Craig Hewitt, both 41-years-old, formerly of Walkley Road, Sheffield, appeared before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court charged with one count each of false imprisonment and neglect.

They have been bailed to appear before Sheffield Crown Court at a later date.

The charges relate to reports of concern received by police at 2.50pm on Tuesday 2 June.

Police were called out to a house on Walkley Road, close to the library, following reports of ‘concern’.

The man and the woman were arrested on suspicion of neglect offences at the time.

Officers remained at the scene until yesterday afternoon (June 3).
