Sheffield man accused of attempted murder after boy was shot is due to stand trial

The case of a man accused of attempted murder after a 12-year-old boy was shot is expected to go to trial.

Stephen Dunford, aged 25, of Fellbrigg Road, Sheffield, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday, January 21, after he has been charged with attempted murder and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Stephanie Hollis, prosecuting, claimed during a previous Sheffield Magistrates’ Court hearing Mr Dunford had been in an approaching car during the alleged incident.

The 12-year-old boy was found injured with a gunshot wound to his leg after emergency services were called to Arbourthorne, Sheffield, at 3.45pm, on January 12.

Mr Dunford’s case had been committed to Sheffield Crown Court for today’s hearing, on January 21, after he had been remanded in custody.

Judge Jeremy Richardson QC confirmed Mr Dunford’s case would be considered during a plea, trial preparation hearing on February 4 and a trial is provisionally expected on July 6.
