Sheffield man accused of assaulting police officers

A Sheffield man has been accused of assaulting police officers and a string of other offences after he was arrested.

Henzley Scott, aged 32, of no fixed abode, has appeared before magistrates charged with eight offences and is remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Sheffield Crown Court next month.

He is charged with two counts of assault by beating an emergency worker, two counts of threatening/abusive behaviour with intent to cause alarm or distress, two counts of racially or religiously aggravated disorderly behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress; criminal damage to property and racially/religiously aggravated common assault.

The charges are in connection to his arrest in Chapletown and alleged incidents in police custody afterwards.

Scott was initially arrested for racially or religiously aggravated disorderly behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress.He was then charged with a further seven offences following alleged incidents while in police custody on Monday, November 23.
