Sheffield man, 50, charged after armed robbery at city centre casino

A 50-year-old Sheffield man has been charged with multiple offences following an armed robbery at a city centre casino.

Michael Haynes, 50, of Jeffcock Road, Darnall, has been charged with section 4 public order and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. A section 4 public order offence refers to fear or provocation of violence.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson confirmed the charges are in relation to an armed robbery at Admiral Casino in Haymarket, Sheffield on Friday, 21 August.

Haynes has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 22 September.

A Sheffield Central neighbourhood policing team spokesperson said: “Good work by our officers in the city centre at the weekend.

"Michael Haynes has been charged with section 4 public order and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He has been remanded into custody and will be appearing at Crown Court on the 22nd September.”
