19-year-old man dies after car ‘flips’ on major Sheffield road
A 19-year-old man has died after the car he was travelling in as a passenger lost control and ‘flipped’ on a major Sheffield road.
At around 10:15pm last night, Saturday, December 19, emergency services were called to a collision involving a silver Ford Fiesta on Hathersage Road.
It is believed the 17-year-old driver of the car lost control on the bend, causing the car to flip.
The passenger, a 19-year-old man, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Boris Johnson held a press conference on Saturday afternoon in which he announced that London and parts of the south east of England are to be placed in a new, stricter Tier 4 lockdown from midnight.
The new Tier 4 will mean that travel is advised against and people are being asked to stay inside over Christmas and not meet up with or mix with friends and family.

People living in flats near the scene of a shooting on Broomhall’s Exeter Drive in the early hours of Saturday have told how scared they are by worsening crime on the estate.
One resident described how the incident - in which a 38-year-old man was shot and stabbed in the leg - had “made me realise how close this was to my home”.
The householder - who did not want to be named - said he had lived on Exeter Drive for five years and it was “generally quiet”.
However the atmosphere around the large apartment buildings had grown “ugly” during the summer when suspected drug dealers moved in
Sheffield taxi drivers reveal they’re struggling this Christmas
Six days before Christmas, Hussain Mahmood would normally be well into his busiest season.
Instead, at 2pm on the last Saturday before the big day, he’s one of a number of taxis parked up on side streets across the city, waiting for business that isn’t appearing.
It’s the end of a difficult year for men and women whose livelihood depends on social gatherings.
"I can sit here two hours waiting my turn for a job these days,” says Hussain, with a shake of his head.
