Today, we publish a picture gallery of criminals who were jailed in 2022 for knife attacks
Police carried out prosections this year as their crackdown on knife crime across Sheffield continued. In total, sentences amounting to over 100 years were handed out by courts in the city, for offences ranging from wounding to murders.
The seven people featured in this picture gallery were all jailed by the courts during 2022. Some offenders admitted to their crimes, while others were found guilty after a trial.
The gallery lists the sentences and those who were convicted.
Ministry of Justice figures show 475 knife and offensive weapon offenders were cautioned or convicted in South Yorkshire in the year to March with 140 (29 per cent) resulting in custody. However, this was up from 27 per cent in 2020-21, but down from 38 per cent in 2019-20.

Jason Connors, aged 26, had become re-united with a criminal acquaintance at the man’s South Yorkshire home before he stabbed him and fled in a car that was followed by police across Sheffield city centre during a high-speed pursuit. Amy Earnshaw, prosecuting, said Connors had been living at the home rented by the other man and the defendant was decorating at the time of the offending on August 10, last year. She said: “There were a number of stab wounds that is fair to say with a knife. The injuries were four stab wounds. One to the chest. Three to the abdomen.” Following the stabbing, police were alerted that this defendant may be driving a Vauxhall Astra and at 1.40am the vehicle was spotted before it was pursued through Sheffield city centre at high-speeds, according to Ms Earnshaw. Connors, of no fixed address, who has previous convictions, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding and to dangerous driving. He was sentenced to 18 months' custody and handed a two year, nine month driving ban during a Sheffield Crown Court hearing held in January 2022. Photo: Jason Connors
Pictured is Ross Turton, aged 30, of Danewood Avenue, Woodthorpe, Sheffield, who was found guilty of murdering Sheffield father-of-three Danny Irons following a trial at Sheffield Crown Court. Turton was jailed for life to serve a minimum of 25 years, during a hearing held at Sheffield Crown Court in January 2022. Danny, a father-of-three, was said in court to have been stabbed to death in a dispute over drugs. Turton stabbed Danny in his heart, leading him to collapse and die on Fretson Green, Manor. Jurors were told that Turton, who was involved in the cultivation of cannabis, had gone out armed with a knife looking for Danny because he believed was going to burgle a house with a crop in it on Fretson Road South.
