A post mortem examination is due to be carried out later.

Just over a week ago a 12-year-old boy was injured in a drive-by shooting on nearby Northern Avenue.

The incidents are not being linked.

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Mark Oughton said: “Officers from within the Major Crime Unit are working closely with detectives in Sheffield to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this man's death.

“There is currently a cordon outside the flats while officers continue with enquiries and speak to potential witnesses. At this moment in time, this incident is not being connected to any other investigations in that area.
