A young man who exposed himself to police in Sheffield has been shamed on a new TV show filmed in the city.

Viewers of last night’s Channel 4 programme 999: What’s Your Emergency? saw PCs Laura Ledger and Bernice Gott give the man a warning after he dropped his pants as their patrol car whizzed past him in a city street.

Stopping the car, Pc Ledger was seen telling the camera: “What the hell is he doing?

Speaking to the man, dressed in a white top and jogger bottoms, she said: “You don’t do something like that.

"You had your pants down, I saw everything.

"I’ve seen your private parts which I didn’t want to see.”

Telling the officers he was ‘joking around’ with friends and that he thought he had his boxers on, Pc Gott was then seen telling viewers: “Did you have some sort of hot dog sausage in your hand?”

After being given a ticking off for the incident, filmed before the coronavirus pandemic earlier last year, the flasher was sent on his way – but not before a bizarre exchange with the pair.

"Can I shake your hand – or say goodbye?,” he told the exasperated duo.

Returning to their car, Pc Ledger told the camera: “What an absolute idiot,” with Pc Gott replying: “Put it away, your mum will not be proud.”

The episode, the second in a new series, focused on sex offences in Sheffield and South Yorkshire and also included upsetting cases of sex abuse and domestic rape.

The show continues next Monday at 9pm.
