“I was driving with my partner Cady Smith and our little girl, who is only one, and at that moment I thought it really was the end and we were all going to die. All I could think of was my daugther and just wanting to keep her safe.”

Thankfully the car hit a stone wall which slowed it down before it hit Ryan’s car, he said.

“The driver and the passenger both just got out of the car and ran.”

No one was seriously hurt in the smash but now the adrenaline has worn off Ryan says he has a sore head and is sore and battered.

He said: “The adrenaline has worn off now and we’ve realised just how close it was and we really feel lucky to be alive today, it could have been a very different story if the car didn’t hit the wall first.”

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “There was a two vehicle road traffic collision on Normanton Hill last night, just before 7.45pm The three occupants in one of the vehicles are not believed to be seriously injured. The driver and the passenger of the offending vehicle left on foot. Police believe they know who they are and are still investigating what happened.”

Ryan added: “The roads are much quieter at the minute and I think the idiots are seeing the quieter roads as a time to go out and drive like a numpties so I just want everyone to be careful out there as you don’t know who you might be sharing the road with.”
