Sheffield drug-driver banned after testing positive for cannabis

Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on December 5 how Leslie Thompson, aged 59, of Daresbury Place, Gleadless, was stopped in his car by police on Gleadless Road, Sheffield, and was taken to a police station after he failed a drug swipe.
Kirsty Pearson, prosecuting, said that following a blood test Thompson was found to have a cannabis derivative in his system which registered over the specified legal drug-drive limit.

Hide AdThompson pleaded guilty to exceeding the cannabis drug-drive limit after the incident on June 1.
Defence solicitor Maz Sharif said Thompson has been using cannabis for a long time but he is going to get some support to address his drug use.
Magistrates fined Thompson £120 and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.
