Carl Siddall of Woodthorpe said the children’s home on Holbrook Drive was burgled in the early hours of Saturday morning (December 21) while the children were overseas on holiday.

In a Facebook post, the father-of-two published what appeared to be CCTV images depicting the suspects and told them to return their belongings.

“These are the two thieves who burgled my kids’ home whilst they were on holiday. They came home to nothing, even took their family car and then went on a spending spree at a shop on Prince Wales Road at 4am.

“Can everyone please share it like mad. All I want is all their stuff back and I will leave you alone. If I don’t get it back then it’s my turn and I will find you because there is nothing worse than seeing your own kids upset.”

Asked about the incident, the 45-year-old said the children were on holiday in New York with their grandparents for a week and just came home on Sunday morning (December 22).

He said the burglars had broken into their conservatory window at the back of the house, which has now been temporarily sealed.

“They took watches, jewellery, a Playstation 4 and a bicycle. They also stole their Passat, which was found burnt up in Manor yesterday by the police,” he said.

But the thieves were caught using his son’s bank card as they went on a spending spree at a 24-hour store on Prince Wales Road.

“I found out where my son’s card was used and went down to the shop to get the CCTV footage.

“They used the cards four times before it was declined. Each transaction was about £30, so in total they spent around £120,” Mr Siddall said.

He said his children, a 16-year-old son and a 23-year-old daughter who are under the care of his former partner, now live in fear and do not want to return to their home.

“They are now at their grandparents’. They are absolutely devastated about what happened,” he said.

He said the police have been informed about the incident.

“The police are investigating but I hope the police should be going to the shop to get the CCTV footage before it gets deleted,” he said.

South Yorkshire Police have been contacted for more information.
