Sheffield Crown Court: Round-up of some of the major cases heard this week

Offenders have been committing crimes across South Yorkshire and Sheffield and the cases here include handling stolen goods, drug-dealing, assaults, smuggling drugs into prison, breaches of sex offender orders and affray.

Judges have imposed a range of custodial sentences upon the defendants while sparing others from jail due to mitigating circumstances.

One defendant has been jailed for spitting at three police officers and a sex-offender who moved from Belfast to Sheffield has been jailed for repeatedly breachng his Sex Offences Prevention Order.

Another defendant has been locked-up after he tried to smuggle drugs into a Doncaster prison.
