Sheffield Crown Court: Round-up of some of the major cases heard in recent days

Offenders from across South Yorkshire and Sheffield are continuing to be brought to justice and the cases here include affray, careless driving, shoplifting, possessing a knife in a public place, attempted burglaries, handling stolen goods, fraud, theft and assault.

Judges have imposed a range of custodial sentences upon the defendants after considering any mitigating circumstances.

One defendant has been jailed during an affray in which he terrified his ex-partner, and in another case two shoplifters have been locked-up after repeatedly targeting a Boots store.

Another defendant has been put behind bars after admitting two attempted burglaries.
