Sheffield couple suffer racial abuse while enjoying country stroll

A Sheffield couple were racially abused as they walked through a park.

The man and woman were walking through Chatsworth Park, Chesterfield, on Saturday, July 13, when a group of two women and around 11 men verbally abused them in both English and Punjabi.

PC Ian Richardson, who is investigating the incident, said: “We are treating this incident very seriously.

“Everyone has a right to enjoy the countryside without being subjected to abuse.

“If anyone can tell me who committed this offence I’d like to hear from them.

“I work closely with the security team and estate workers at Chatsworth and we will take action against anyone who is spoiling the enjoyment of others in the park.”
