Ms Hale, defending, said the offence is not typical for this defendant and he is genuinely remorseful.

She added that he has suffered injuries and has not been working and a recreational use of drugs got out of control and he has been associating with the wrong crowd.

Ms Hale said the offence was committed with another male who was not apprehended.

Magistrates sentneced Mulligan to 26 weeks of custody. He was also ordered to pay £967 in compensation.
