A serial offender is due to be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court after a burglary

A serial offender who stole a digital safe and other items during a raid at a property has been remanded in custody until he is to be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court.

Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 15 how Christopher Syphas, 23, of no fixed abode, committed the burglary at a property on Wynyard Road, at Hillsborough, Sheffield, where he stole a digital safe, paperwork and Euros.

Syphas pleaded guilty to the burglary which happened on November 11 and the court heard that the defendant has three other relevant previous offences from 2013, 2015 and 2017 so he will need to be sentenced at crown court.

Robert Coyne, prosecuting highlighted that Syphas has relevant previous convictions that put him in the “third strike” bracket.

District Judge Naomi Redhouse committed Syphas’s case for a further hearing and sentencing at Sheffield Crown Court on February 5.

Syphas was also remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
