About 250 motorists have been given free property-marking kits for their cars in a new police drive to reduce the theft of 4x4s in Derbyshire.

The event at the B2Net Stadium, Chesterfield, was organised by Derbyshire Police to give motorists the chance to have their vehicles marked up with SelectaDNA and SmartWater - invisible substances where each batch is made up with a unique DNA type code to make it easier to trace the owners of lost of stolen property.

Vehicles including BMW X5s, Range Rovers and Land Rovers were marked.
