Schoolchildren 'taken to hospital and emergency reception centre' after bus crash in Sheffield

The youngsters were onboard a school bus heading towards Sheffield which crashed into a barbers shop on Handsworth Road, Handsworth, this morning.
The single decker, operated by Central Travel, crashed at around 7.40am, narrowly missing people at a nearby bus stop.

Hide AdPolice, firefighters and paramedics were deployed to the crash scene and an investigation into the exact circumstances of the collision is under way.
Some children are reported to have been taken to hospital as a precaution, but nobody is believed to have been seriously injured in the crash.
The others onboard have been taken to South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue's training centre on Beaver Hill Road.
Some were seen crying after the collision and were given silver protective sheets to wear for warmth.

Hide AdA passer-by said: “It was a school bus involved. There were around 20 kids onboard.”
"Whether the driver left the handbrake off when it was parked at the bus stop I don't know but it's certainly caused a lot of damage to the barbers."
South Yorkshire Police said: “Officers are currently on scene in Handsworth Road, Sheffield, following reports that a school bus has collided with a shop.
“There are no reports of serious injuries, however emergency services will remain at the scene to secure the building.
“South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue's training centre on Beaver Hill Road is being used as a reception centre for children who were on board.”
