MOTORISTS are being urged to step up their security in Rotherham following a spate of overnight break-ins for valuables left on display.

Coats, bags mobile phones and satellite navigation systems are among the items thieves are looking for, according to South Yorkshire Police.

A spokesman said: ”Rotherham has seen an increase in the theft of property, particularly overnight.

“Theft from vehicles will not be tolerated. Local officers are increasing patrols.”

Motorists are urged to lock cars, remove valuables and use alarms.
