Rotherham man admits child sex offences

A Rotherham man has admitted child sex offences at Sheffield Crown Court.

Anton Simpson, aged 27, of Orchard Place, Masbrough, admitted attempting to cause a child to watch an image of sexual activity, attempting to make a child engage in sexual activity and arranging the commission of sexual activity, when he appeared at the court on Thursday.

The offences happened between December 11, 2017, and April 13, 2018.

Claire Ashcroft, mitigating, said Simpson had no previous convictions and asked for a report to be prepared before he is sentenced.

Judge David Dixon told him: "You have pleaded guilty to serious offences for which custody will be considered.

"The court may well decide to lock you up in due course.

"You are now a sex offender. You must notify the police of your address."

Sentencing was adjourned until January 9, for a probation report.
