Reward over Sheffield murder extended for another three months

It has been offered to help detectives find the killer of Patricia Grainger, who was killed on August 10, 1997.

Patricia was 25 years old when her body was found dumped under a discarded base at a brook behind homes on Deerlands Avenue, Parson Cross.

The mum-of-one, who had learning difficulties, was from nearby Buchanan Road and had not been seen for a number of days before her body was found by children playing in the brook.

She was semi-naked and had been stabbed.

Her son, Danny, was just five years old when she was killed and has spend the last 12 years fighting for justice for his mum after setting up his website www.whokilledmymum.com to highlight the case.

Arrests have been made over the years but nobody has ever been prosecuted.

Danny, 28, said: “It was a sexually motivated and sadistic murder, which is still unsolved to this day.

“I was her only child. I was just five years old when she was killed.

“For the last 12 years I have been campaigning for justice for my mum, after setting up my website just before the 11th anniversary of her murder.

“We have, with the help of Crimestoppers, been able to put up a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

“Crimestoppers have agreed to extend the £10,000 reward offer.

“Normally rewards only run for three months but I wanted to give the campaign a final push on the 23rd anniversary.

“I feel that this is our last chance of getting the information needed to solve the case. The reward is a lot of money and may just be what it takes to persuade someone to come forward before the offer ends.”
