Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 9 how Milan Horvath, 25, of Robey Street, Sheffield, came to the attention of police in Rotherham after he pulled out in front of them.

Matthew Duffy, prosecuting, said: “He pulled straight out on officers so they followed the vehicle and a PNC check was carried out and the vehicle showed he had no insurance.”

The court heard Horvath had taken out valid insurance just days before but he failed a drink-drive breath test after police claimed he smelled of alcohol.

Jobless Horvath, who has a previous drink-drive conviction, pleaded guilty to exceeding the alcohol drink-drive limit after the incident on Centenary Way, Rotherham, on December 16.

Horvarth, who apologised, was fined £120 and must pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge. He was banned from driving for 36 months.
