A WOMAN who claims she was raped by a man she met on a night out in Sheffield has described the moment she awoke to find him having sex with her.

The alleged victim described trying to push Mohammed Hemmati, aged 42, off her with both hands and swearing at him as he forced himself on her while her friend slept in the same bed.

She told a jury at Sheffield Crown Court: “I woke up and he was on top of me. He was having sex with me. He had removed the clothing from my bottom half.

“I was pushing him off. I tried to force him off me, I grabbed hold of him with both hands and tried to push him off but that seemed to excite him more.

“I asked him what he was doing and told him to get off me – I was in shock, it happened so quick.”

Rachel Harrison, prosecuting, said the girl and a female friend were on a night out in Sheffield on March 26 with two male friends when they met Hemmati on the dancefloor at Tiger Works.

The woman told the jury he bought the group a ‘fishbowl’ – a large cocktail to share which arrives in a big glass bowl – and afterwards they all went back to her male pal’s flat.

She said an argument broke out after one of her male friends made a pass at her, adding she wasn’t interested because she was a lesbian.

Hemmati invited the two girls to stay at his flat because they had ‘nowhere else to go’ the woman told the jury.

She said they got into bed fully clothed and Hemmati tried to give them more alcohol but they refused and fell asleep.

She said she then woke to find him on top of her having sex.

The woman said after the attack she fled the flat, and used a mobile phone belonging to a passer-by to call the police.

Miss Harrison said Hemmati’s DNA was found on the victim.

She said in his first police interview Hemmati told officers he did not remember any sex taking place.

The next time he was interviewed, he told police: “I was drunk, something may having happened. Nothing was done by force, if there was anything it was with consent.”

Hemmati, of Ashberry Road, Netherthorpe, denies rape.

The trial continues.
