A CHESTERFIELD landlord has been ordered to pay more than £3,000 under the Proceeds of Crime Act after he was caught growing cannabis in his pub.
Mark Breen, aged 47, of Newcastle Avenue, Worksop, was found growing cannabis plants in two upstairs rooms when police raided the Poolsbrook Hotel, Poolsbrook, in July last year.
They also found £3,232 in cash, which magistrates have now forfeited after the landlord was unable to prove he obtained it legally.
The cash will be shared between the government and Derbyshire police.
Breen, who was given a total of 18 months for possessing cannabis and possessing cannabis with the intent to supply, has also been ordered to pay £2,166 costs.
When Breen was arrested he told police he had started growing cannabis to sell because he ran into financial difficulties.
Officers discovered the electricity meter had also been tampered with.
