Probe into fatal flat blaze in Rotherham continues

An investigation into the cause of a flat fire in which a man died in Rotherham is continuing today.

Firefighters were called to a blaze in a flat on Hill Top Lane, Kimberworth, at around 7pm yesterday.

Some neighbouring homes were evacuated whilst firefighters dealt with blaze, which is now out.

Police and paramedics were also alerted to the incident.

At the height of the blaze there were around 20 firefighters at the scene.

The fire victim has not yet been named but is reported to have been middle-aged.

He was found in the living room of the burning property.

Nobody else is believed to have been in the flat when the fire broke out.

A multi-agency investigation into the cause of the blaze is now under way.

Those involved in the probe returned to the flat this morning to examine the property and to try to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
