Popular Sheffield bar Dempseys reveals 'real reason’ why there was a pool of blood outside

CCTV footage has revealed why a pool of blood was found near a bar in Sheffield city centre this morning.

South Yorkshire Police said officers were called to Hereford Street at 5.30am today following reports ‘reports of an assault’ near to Dempseys bar and a man was taken to hospital with minor head injuries.

But Tom Beaumont, who manages Dempseys, which closed at 4am today, said CCTV cameras show that the man fell forward and landed on his face.

He said: “From our CCTV it shows that one and half hours after we shut a man hanging around and stumbling about.

"He was leaning against a wall for around 40 minutes then at 5.36am he is seen falling forwards onto his face.

“A crowd of around 10 people went across to help him.”

South Yorkshire Police said enquiries into the incident are continuing.
