Police warning after thieves target cars outside homes

POlice in Sheffield are urging motorists to step up their security and to avoid leaving keys anywhere visible after a car was stolen from outside a house in the city.

The Audi A3 was parked outside a property in Meadowhead overnight on Saturday into Sunday when the house was broken into for the keys and the car was driven away.

The following night a Toyota Starlet was stolen from Woodstock Road, Nether Edge.

Police were also alerted to the attempted theft of a car parked outside a house on Thirlwell Road, Heeley, overnight on Monday into Tuesday.

Officers in the city are also investigating a number of thefts from vehicles, including a sat nav which was stolen from the glovebox of a car parked on Warminster Road, Norton Lees, Sheffield, overnight on Thursday into Friday last week.

And overnight on Sunday into Monday cars were broken into on Leighton Drive, Gleadless Valley and Norton Park Road, Norton.
