A Chesterfield pensioner had his wallet and jewellery stolen from his house by a team of distraction burglars.
The man, aged in his 70s, told police he heard a knock on his window on Saturday night and three men told him they had lost their ball.
While he helped look for the ball he later realised two of the men had sneaked into his house on Station Road, Scarcliffe.
They took his wallet and two rings. One was opal and diamond and the other amethyst and diamond.
One of the men involved in was in his mid 30s, of a large build and was wearing a tweed jacket and tweed flat cap.
Around an hour earlier that night another pensioner found three intruders in his home on Harehill Crescent, Wingerworth.
One of the men was wearing a tweed jacket and cap.
On that occasion nothing was stolen.
The men left in a black car.
Anyone with information should call Derbyshire Police on 101.
