Officers said they had received reports of three to four males, aged between 17 and 12, trying to steal a moped on one occasion and a moped on another in Kelham Island and Neepsend.

PCSO Chris Bell said both incidents had happened in the last week, one near the Kelham Tavern and one on Mowbray Street, and when the youths were challenged they ‘got verbal’.

He added that they were dressed ‘in the usual fashion’, wearing black jogging suits and hoodies which they had tied to try to conceal their faces.

“I say be careful because you never know if they carry weapons,” said PCSO Bell.

“I also say these little big men are all mouth and trousers. That's a quote my dad used to say.

“But keep an eye out for these lads as they are obviously up to no good.”
