Police uncover huge £1.6 million cannabis factory on Sheffield street

A police probe is under way following the discovery of a huge £1.6 million cannabis factory in Sheffield.

Officers made the discovery in Tinsley just before Christmas and made a number of arrests.

Officers seized 1,700 plants, two cars and thousands of pounds worth of electrical and hydroponics equipment needed for cultivation of the plants

South Yorkshire Police said: “Although some may say ‘It’s just cannabis’, this huge disruption of organised crime is all part of the bigger picture.

“Over 1.6 million pounds worth of cannabis was seized, along with two vehicles, thousands of pounds worth of hydroponics and other items to continue with our forensic investigation. Arrests were made, and the investigation continues with further arrests to follow.”
