Christmas shoppers in Chesterfield will be able to pick up crime prevention advice as well as gifts on Thursday.

Police officers, Police Community Support Officers and the community safety team from the British Transport Police will be teaming up to offer personal safety advice over the festive period.

A mobile police station will be open between 10am and 3pm.

PCSO John Lockwood, from the Chesterfield Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We will be visiting the town centre throughout the day on Thursday to offer crime prevention and security advice to help you to stay safe in the run up to Christmas.

“We will be fitting free purse chains and will be on hand to answer any concerns that you may have about protecting your property and valuables over the festive season.

“We hope to see many people there.”
