Police tell residents what they should do not do if they see extra patrols on Sheffield estate

A huge police operation was mounted after a 12-year-old boy was injured in a drive-by shooting on Northern Avenue, Arbourthorne, on Sunday, January 12.
In addition to officers investigating the gun attack itself, police chiefs ordered a massive crackdown on organised crime on the estate and surrounding areas.

Hide AdHomes have been raided, stop and search operations have been mounted, drugs have been seized and arrests have been made.


Extra police patrols have also been mounted, with firearms officers among those involved.
South Yorkshire Police’s ‘serious violent crime taskforce’ has also been involved.
Sergeant Ash Franklin said: “People will have noticed an increase in both officers on foot patrol and police vehicles, we want this to be reassuring and not any cause for concern.”
