Police say they are still investigating an armed fight on a street in South Yorkshire after a shocking video of the violence went viral.

Terrifying footage showing punches being thrown before a topless man waving what appears to be a knife smashes in a car windscreen with his foot has been viewed more than 16,000 times since being shared on Saturday, July 11.

South Yorkshire Police said the 35-second clip relates to an incident on Doncaster Road in East Dene, Rotherham, on January 18 this year.

A spokeswoman for the force said officers were called at around 3.11pm that day to reports of a man with a knife but no weapon or offender were found.

Later that day, she said, police received a further call from the ambulance service saying a man had received minor injuries in an incident at that location.

“A man has since been interviewed in relation to this incident and enquiries are ongoing,” she added.

The footage was shared by Twitter user @kwilliam111 who said the fight had taken place 300 yards from his house.

“(This) happens regularly. Parents are afraid to let their children out,” he added.

Responding to comments, he said drugs were ‘dealt openly on the streets’ in the area.

“I only report when I see girls on street corners. Nothing is ever done to stop it,” he added.

The post has been liked more than 400 times and racked up nearly 500 retweets and comments since it was shared.
