Police have stepped up patrols after a spate of burglaries in a Sheffield suburb.

There have been a number of break-ins and attempted burglaries in and around Greystones, according to officers.

Last night, thieves attempted to enter two homes on Ranby Road and on Rustlings Road.

PCSO Paul Harran said: “Police are doing extra patrols in the area to catch and deter offenders.

“Please make sure that you secure your property and don’t leave any items of value including house keys and vehicle keys visible.

“If you do see anyone suspicious going up pathways to the front or rear of properties please contact the police. If you see anyone breaking into a property or about to do so call 999 if it is happening at the time. Make sure you leave timer lights and TV simulators on and make it look like someone is at home if you’re going out for the evening or will be late back from work.”
