Police are re-appealing for help in tracing the driver involved in a hit-and-run which left a father-of-five seriously injured on New Year’s Eve.

Mohammed Younis, aged 61, was struck by a car - believed to be a blue BMW - in Owler Lane, Fir Vale, but the driver of the car failed to stop.

Mr Younis was left with a fractured hip and several fractured ribs, and spent three weeks in hospital following the collision which happened at around 7.15pm.

Despite a direct appeal from Mr Younis for the driver of the vehicle involved to come forward, police have still been unable to trace the culprit.

Anyone who was in the area at the time or has information about the collision should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
