Police searches continue after New Year's Day murder of young man in Sheffield

A number of police searches have been carried out in Sheffield this week as part of a murder probe in the city.

Officers have been searching areas of open spaces and drains as part of the investigation into the death of 18-year-old Isaiah Usen-Satchell, aged 18, who was stabbed in an attack on St Aidan’s Road, Norfolk Park, in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

A car recovered by South Yorkshire Police has also been searched this week by officers looking for clues to help detectives piece together the circumstances surrounding the murder.

Isaiah was slashed on his arms and legs after a fight broke out between a group of men at around 4.20am on Wednesday, January 1.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but a wrist wound proved fatal.

Five Rotherham men, aged between 18 and 27, were arrested over the murder and all later released under investigation after being quizzed by detectives.

Nobody has yet been charged over the knife attack.

Isaiah, who was studying business at Leeds Trinity University, was a twin.

His sister Iman Anne Usen-Satchell spoke of her heartache at his death the following day and paid tribute to him.

She said: “It’s so satisfying and relieving to know that he touched so many people’s lives and that so many people genuinely love him and feel the same heartache as his close family do.”
