Police search Sheffield for missing online paedophile

A suspected online paedophile with connections to Sheffield is at the centre of a police hunt today.

Police in Sussex are searching for 46-year-old Scott Eric Nye, who is wanted for failing to report on police bail on 21 April.

Following an investigation by officers from the Sussex Police Paedophile Online Investigation Team, the CPS have authorised his prosecution for alleged online child sex abuse offences.

Nye, who is described as white, balding, 6ft, and of medium build, has an address in Uckfield but also has family connections in Sheffield, and enquiries are also being made in the city, say officers.

Detective Constable Gary Baker said; "Scott Nye has failed to comply with bail conditions and surrender to police custody. If you have seen him or have any information on his whereabouts, please contact us either online or by calling 101, quoting Sussex reference 47190091813."

No child has been at physical risk in relation to this case, said police.
