Police reveal more details on horror Sheffield crash that left 86-year-old in hospital

Police are appealing for information after an 86-year-old man was left with serious leg injuries following a collision in Woodthorpe.

At 12.20pm, a red Volkswagen Golf was driving down Fishponds Road when, at the junction with Spinkhill Road, it’s reported to have collided with a red Rover.

The driver of the Rover, an 86-year-old man, is now in hospital with serious leg injuries.

The 45-year-old driver of the Golf was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries before being arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing a roadside drugs wipe. He is now in police custody.
