Police reveal children from three schools were onboard bus involved in crash in Sheffield

Police have revealed that children from three schools were onboard a bus which crashed into a barbers shop in Sheffield this morning.

A total of 24 children were on the Central Travel school bus which ploughed into Stay Fresh Barbers on Handsworth Road, Handsworth, at around 7.50am.

Fifteen of the children on the bus were on their way to Sheffield High School for Girls.

Some of the other youngsters attend Birkdale School, but the third is not yet known.

One pupil was taken to hospital by ambulance and a number of others were taken as a precaution by their parents but nobody is believed to have been seriously hurt.

A police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision has been launched.

Police, firefighters and paramedics responded to reports of the incident and dealt with the youngsters at the scene before cordoning off the crash scene.

The bus narrowly avoided missing people stood at a nearby bus stop.
