Sheffield Crown Court heard on September 3 how Brad Mileham, aged 21, formerly of Boston Street, Sheffield, was spotted with drugs by a glass collector at The Tank nightclub, on Arundel Gate, Sheffield, in November, 2018.

Susan Evans, prosecuting, said drugs were subsequently recovered from Mileham’s address including MDMA, ketamine, cannabis, Xanax and cocaine valued at about £3,000.

Ms Evans added police also found hundreds of texts on the defendant’s mobile phone relating to drug-dealing and the court heard weighing scales, dealer lists and cash were also recovered from his address.

Recorder Darren Preston told Mileham: “It’s very sad indeed that you find yourself here dealing with the criminal justice system for the first time in your life charged with such serious offences.”

He pointed out Mileham dropped a bag of drugs at the nightclub after he had been spotted by a glass collector but they were seized and police found weighing scales, dealer lists, drugs and cash in his room.

Mileham, of Rose Avenue, Blackpool, who has no previous convictions, pleaded guilty to possessing ecstasy MDMA tablets, ketamin, crack-cocaine, cannabis and Xanax with intent to supply to others and he also admitted supplying MDMA and to possessing criminal property in the form of cash as ill-gotten gains.

Ian Goldsack, defending, said Mileham had been a first-year Sheffield University student and after he had suffered the breakdown of a relationship he started using drugs and his involvement escalated.

Mr Goldsack added Mileham’s offending had been unsophisticated after he had been intoxicated when he was arrested and he had failed to hide the evidence of his drug-dealing.

He said: “What must have seemed a promising future has been rudely taken away from him his own mistakes and stupidity.”

Mileham, who had originally come from Huddersfield to Sheffield, has turned his life around, according to Mr Goldsack, and he has stopped taking drugs and has enrolled on an apprenticeship.

But Recorder Preston said the offending was so serious only a custodial sentence could be justified and he sentenced Mileham to 44 months of custody.
