They believe the silver Vauxhall Astra is ‘believed to be connected to the case’.

It was seen in the area of Westthorpe Road, Killamarsh, at around the time 31-year-old Ricky Collins was found critically injured there after a knife attack on the evening of Monday, March 29.

Police officers were called to the street following reports of a disturbance at a house but when they arrived Ricky was found seriously injured outside.

Detectives investigating the murder of a Sheffield man who was fatally stabbed have released CCTV footage of a car they want to trace

He was treated by paramedics at the scene and rushed to hospital but could not be saved.

Detectives are searching for a silver 09 plate Astra with five doors, which may have been parked up or dumped somewhere.

They also want to hear from anyone offered an Astra for sale since March 29.

Detective Inspector Chris Marriott, who is leading the murder investigation, said: “As part of our investigation, we need to find the Astra and I am urging anyone who might be able to help us, to get in touch now.

Ricky Collins, from Sheffield, was stabbed to death in Killamarsh on Monday, March 29

“I appreciate that silver Astras are very common. However, it may be that you’ve seen a car like it parked up near where you live or work – or perhaps you’ve seen one left in an unusual place, such as a country lane.

“This particular vehicle is linked to addresses in South Yorkshire.

“If that jogs your memory, and it doesn’t quite sit right, please call us. Your information could be of great assistance to our investigation.”

Five arrests have been made so far as part of the murder probe.

Martin Mongan, 44, from Pontefract, West Yorkshire and a 43-year-old Sheffield man, who has not yet been named, have been charged with assisting an offender.

A 24-year-old man and 29-year-old woman, both from Sheffield, were arrested on suspicion of murder earlier this week and remained in police custody yesterday.

A 16-year-old Sheffield boy arrested on suspicion of murder earlier in the investigation was bailed pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information should call Derbyshire Constabulary on 101 and quote reference 21*174876.
